My Story - Habits of Disease
Emotional Eating
It took awhile to identify that I was an emotional eater. If you've ever seen Mike Myers in
the role of Fat Bastard in the Austin Powers movies these words might seem familiar, "I eat
because I'm unhappy, and I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle".
Although Fat Bastard immediately goes back into his character and makes for a good laugh,
the statement could not be truer. Comfort food is just that: eating it makes you temporarily
happy. In my case I was getting a bit too comfortable.
Bad Habits Become Routine
At night I would unwind by watching TV. I ate my dinner on my couch in front of the glow of
my giant TV. It became such a well-established routine that after seven years my kitchen
table was showing no signs of wear, but the springs in my couch were shot.
My brain began to associate TV with eating. Like Pavlov's dog, I was conditioned. If the TV
was on, I was hungry. Remote control in one hand and French fries in the other. To this day,
this is still my biggest struggle.
Exercise
Aside from the 2 weeks I used the Ab-Doer, I did not exercise at all.
