My Story - Problems
My Mom The Feeder
My mom is an excellent cook and a loving mother. Her nurturing way made certain there
was no shortage of food at dinner time, and I was brought up to finish my plate. Being an
Italian family, dinners almost always consisted of pasta and bread. As with most of our
meals, seconds and thirds were not uncommon. If Mom couldn't finish her food, she offered it
to me and I gladly accepted more of Mom's great cooking. This started a habit of polishing off
every bit of food on my plate and sometimes whatever was left on others. I didn't eat until I
was satisfied; I ate until I was stuffed.
Fast Food
As a bachelor I didn't cook. With my job I lived off fast food and going out to eat. If I didn't feel
full I just ordered a little more food. My stomach was growing and so was my waist line.
When I later started looking at the nutrition menus of my favorite restaurants, I learned that I
was eating about 2500 calories a sitting - more than I needed for the entire day. I was
consuming from 3500 to 5000 calories every day, adding 3 to 5 pounds a week.
Soda
No choosing sides here, I was a Coke and Pepsi guy. I would have at least a 32oz soda for
lunch and dinner, not including the soda's in the fridge.
Refined Pasta's are high glycemic
3500 calories makes 1 pound of fat
Burger, Fry & Coke is about 1500 calories
32 oz soda is about 400 calories
