Courage Classic 2010 July 31 Day 1
Love the Lifestyle and Achieve Optimal Health!
Amy and I are still alive and we are very happy day 1 is
officially over.
Our trip started in Leadville, our first hill climb challenge
Tennessee Pass then shortly after that Battle Mountain
Pass. Battle Mountain was extremely fun (going down).
Amy and I stopped to have lunch before making the
decision to climb Vail Pass. There was about a 5 mile
trip from the lunch stop to the bottom of Vail Pass, We
were both exhausted when we got there, but we ventured
on. About 2 miles up Amy had to turn and go back due to
muscle fatigue. I would love to say that I pedaled
effortlessly up the pass but it was nothing short of the
hardest physical activity I have ever done. Reaching the
top of the pass was quite an achievement and I was
proud to have completed it.
Our trip today was 7 hours and 50 minutes. My HRM
said that I burned 3874 calories and we traveled 55
miles. Gear wise, my bicycle is working perfectly except
the engine...seems under-powered. Tomorrow is
supposed to be an easier ride, I will let you all know how
the day went. Thanks for your support and checking in on
me.
